New pottery is here!

Hooray! The new container-load is at the warehouse and we're updating the webpages now! It will take us a while to get everything posted, and all pictures taken, but you can start shopping by June 15 on http://www.polishpotteryshop.com .

The Petersburg VA store at 13 W Old St will get the new items first, as that is our headquarters. Newport News (Port Warwick - 157 Herman Melville Ave.) will get theirs soon after, and the antique mall spaces will receive new pottery by July 1. Get directions to all stores from the website (see link above).

Newport News store is closing!

We were so happy to see so many of our wonderful customers at our "goodbye" event Sat., March 17! Thank ya'll for coming!

So, what is going on? Teresa is simplifying business operations and is going to close the Newport News store in Port Warwick. The internet business has already been moved to the Old Towne Petersburg store (as of 3/1/07) and that store is bursting at the seams with pottery, antiques, other decorative items.

However, we do not want our Newport News customers to worry! We will still have Polish pottery somewhere in Newport News. Plans are being finalized now and we'll post more info as we are certain of developments.

We hope you'll come to see us at Polish Pottery "Headquarters" in Old Towne Petersburg, of course! We are in the charming old historic district, 21 miles S of Richmond, right off I-95 (Exit 52). Get directions off polishpotteryshop.com or contact us for directions. There are many unique stores here, an antiques mall and shops, several excellent restaurants, specialty food, wine and beer stores, etc. The area is rich in Civil War, Revolutional War, and more recent history so there will be plenty for your husband and kids to do too!

We do still maintain the courtesy booths in the Williamsburg Antiques Mall and Mt Vernon Antiques Center (in Alexandria). We welcome comments about the move, or post questions and we'll answer ...

Polish pottery sitings

I have seen Polish pottery lately in a variety of places. These "surprise" sightings are within the last few months. In neither case was it mentioned what the pottery was ...
Good Eats t.v. show with Alton Brown (soup bowl) - January 07, I think
Country Living Magazine - June 2006 issue, page 97.
Have you seen Polish pottery featured in other magazines, on t.v., etc? If so, please share the info?

It's almost like a treasure hunt, isn't it?

See what's in the Petersburg store

Wow! I just discovered YouTube! I thought this was just something cool for the kids, but turns out old chicks can use it, too! I posted 2 videos of the inside of our Petersburg store, if you care to see what kinds of stock we have. Click here to view the short videos.

What do you think of this idea? Would you like to see more Polish pottery related videos? Do you want to see more about Old Towne Petersburg in case you visit the store?

Festival in Boleslawiec, Poland

BOLESLAWIEC'S POTTERY FESTIVAL will take place the last week of August, 2005. If you can make it to Boleslawiec, Poland you can view new forms, patterns, decorate your own pottery, etc. This a very fun event!

We have info on hotels if you need it.

Check discount airfares from perhaps the US to Frankfurt or Cologne/Bonn. There is a train station in Boleslawiec if you want to take the rail over, or there may be a discount airline carrier now to get you directly into a city near Boleslawiec. visit.pl or travelpoland.com may be of value to you.

Want to go to Poland with us?

We are beginning to plan a trip to Poland either for the pottery festival at the end of August or in September. Airfare / room rates will be less in September so that is our preference, but we are flexible. We will likely be leaving from Dulles airport in Northern VA, or BWI in Baltimore to get the lowest airfare. Would you like to join us?

If we have several people interested, we can set up a group tour and negotiate some discounts. We will try to make arrangements with one of the factories in Boleslawiec to ship your pottery purchases over to VA with my next container-load (in the Fall).

Please post a reply if you are interested and state a preference for month (Aug or Sept), and level of cost for the trip (i.e. budget or a bit more deluxe). We envision staying at the restored castle outside Boleslawiec which usually costs about 60 Euro per person per night. Of course, we are flexible about that also. And, would you like to include a trip to Prague for a couple of nights? It's not that far!
